The first United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance will take place in Geneva on 6-7 July 2026, following the mandate established by General Assembly Resolution 79/325.
EuroMedAI has submitted a written contribution to the process, arguing that closing the AI divide is a precondition for legitimate global governance. Our submission calls for an evidence-based diagnostic of AI capacity, a financed minimum capacity floor for all states, an open and accountable forum, and stronger multilingual inclusion for Arabic, Amazigh and other under-represented languages.
EuroMedAI focus
- A Euro-Mediterranean bridge between Northern, Southern and Eastern Mediterranean priorities
- Practical AI capacity-building, including talent, data and compute access
- Public accountability for commitments made through global AI governance processes
- Multilingual participation and interpretation as a condition for meaningful inclusion
The Geneva dialogue is an important moment to ensure that Mediterranean perspectives are not treated as peripheral to global AI governance, but as part of the evidence base, participation model and implementation agenda.
