Panel Discussion at MED 2025

Showcasing EuroMedAI’s Vision

During the forum, we showcased the EuroMedAI network and highlighted the South Mediterranean’s potential to co-create society-centric, trustworthy AI models within the EuroMed region. Our approach focuses on:

  • Local needs-driven development: AI solutions built for and by Mediterranean communities
  • Cross-border interoperability: Ensuring seamless integration across the region
  • Shared standards: Anchoring development in common ethical and technical frameworks

Three Pillars of Mediterranean Cooperation

We also had the opportunity to interact with other sessions and experts across the region, joining discussions around three key strategic topics:

1. Building Peace and Security

Long-term multilateral dialogue based on common values and expanding current cooperation mechanisms. This pillar emphasizes the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement and shared principles in fostering regional stability.

2. Fostering Economic Interdependency

Critical value chains integration through market connectivity and infrastructure investment. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, EuroMed countries can strengthen their economic resilience by:

  • Diversifying supply chains and markets
  • Investing in digital connectivity infrastructure
  • Creating integrated economic ecosystems

3. Supporting New Mediterranean Identity

People-to-people exchanges and investment in civil society and private sector initiatives to drive political and economic transformation across both shores of the Mediterranean.

Looking Forward

Our participation in MED 2025 reinforced our commitment to advancing responsible AI governance across the Mediterranean region. The discussions highlighted the critical importance of:

  • Digital sovereignty in an interconnected world
  • Regional cooperation in AI development and deployment
  • Civil society engagement in shaping AI policies
  • Cross-cultural collaboration in technology governance

The Mediterranean Dialogues provided an excellent platform for EuroMedAI to contribute to the regional conversation on digital transformation while learning from other stakeholders working towards a more connected and prosperous Mediterranean.
