From Principles to Practice – One Year of the Global Digital Compact (GDC)

EuroMedAI is honored to be invited by the United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (ODET) to attend UN Digital Cooperation Day: From Principles to Practice – One Year of the GDC, convened during UNGA80 High-Level Week in New York City.

One year after the adoption of the Global Digital Compact, this full-day programme brings together leaders across sectors to take stock of progress, spotlight practical initiatives, and strengthen cooperation around the Compact’s core priorities—particularly at the intersection of digital inclusion, governance, and innovation.

Why this matters

The Global Digital Compact is a shared framework for building open, safe, secure, and accountable digital futures. UN Digital Cooperation Day is an opportunity to move from high-level principles to implementation, including:

  • Sharing actionable approaches to make digital transformation more inclusive and rights-respecting
  • Examining policy and governance options for rapidly evolving technologies
  • Highlighting interoperable, scalable public infrastructure that can unlock services and opportunity

For the Euro-Mediterranean region—where countries face diverse realities of infrastructure, regulation, and capacity—these conversations are essential to ensuring that digital and AI strategies deliver equitable development outcomes.

Key themes on the agenda

Digital Cooperation Day examines the core themes of the GDC through panels, roundtables, and partner-led launches, including:

  • Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)
