EuroMedAI Delegation to Join the Mediterranean AI Forum in Marseille
A EuroMedAI delegation from both shores joins the Mediterranean AI Forum in Marseille on 5 November 2026, with AMSA-AI among nine selected challenges.

A EuroMedAI delegation will take part in the Mediterranean Artificial Intelligence Forum on 5 November 2026 at the Palais du Pharo in Marseille. The delegation brings together experts from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Palestine, Lebanon, France, Spain and other countries to advance AI governance in the Mediterranean.
Our project AMSA-AI is one of the nine challenges selected across the Mediterranean for the forum, also known as FORUM MED IA and, in French, the Forum méditerranéen de l’IA. In Marseille, the delegation will work across both shores to turn that selection into regional cooperation.

Who Is in the EuroMedAI Delegation?
EuroMedAI is the Euro-Mediterranean Network for AI Governance. Our delegation reflects that network: experts from North Africa, the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe will attend together, rather than as separate national voices.
That matters because the questions the region faces on AI cross borders. Decisions on data governance, skills, compute and adoption made on one shore affect institutions and communities on the other. Our research on AI capacity in the South Mediterranean shows why those gaps need shared answers, and the delegation will bring that evidence into a forum where industrial and investment decisions are being discussed.
AMSA-AI: One of Nine Selected Challenges
AMSA-AI was selected following the forum’s Call for Challenges, which ran from 17 June to 10 July 2026. The call looked for mature projects rooted in the Mediterranean context and already tested in their country or region.
AMSA-AI is a joint initiative involving the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI), CIVICUS, AIDECA and EuroMedAI. It supports inclusive and responsible AI readiness at the local level, with a focus on practical literacy, safe use and the capacity of local actors to make informed decisions about AI.
Through this challenge, EuroMedAI will work with Mediterranean experts to develop regional solutions that advance inclusive development and AI governance in Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan and other countries. The forum’s co-creation workshops, targeted matchmaking and reverse-pitch sessions connect selected challenges with investors, academic partners and public institutions.
This builds on AMSA-AI’s regional expansion, which seeks country partners able to connect regional ambition with local priorities.
Working Across Both Shores
Mediterranean AI cooperation works best when southern and eastern partners help set the agenda from the start. We have made that case at FMIA 2025 in Tunis and at the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva. Marseille is a chance to take it into direct conversations with the people deploying and financing AI in the region.
Our priorities for the forum follow from that position:
- Regional solutions developed with experts from both shores, rather than imported models.
- Inclusive development, so that the benefits of AI reach local institutions and communities.
- Practical AI governance that connects policy to the people making deployment decisions.
About the Forum
The Mediterranean Artificial Intelligence Forum takes place with the support of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Expertise France, Facteur C and ANIMA Investment Network. The 2026 edition focuses on AI’s role in the transition to Industry 4.0 and a low-carbon industrial economy, with priority sectors including healthcare, agrifood, carbon-emissions monitoring and maritime industries.
It is also where the laureates of the FORUM MED IA Research Prize are announced.
